Winter Doldrums

The holiday hype and the excitement of New Year’s Resolutions have worn off.  This is where the rubber meets the road. By now, I’ve spent weeks reading on how to re-write my stories so they are marketable (aka: reader friendly).

I know what to do next, but I’m not doing it!  I’m stuck.

Are you stuck? What do you do, to get started back up?

  1. Stuck! We’ve all been there. In truth, we probably spend more time being ‘stuck’ than unstuck. I find writing in a group in which the creative energy is strong, is a powerful incentive to getting with the program. Find yourself a writing group or partner. I have two writer friends and we meet by free conference call every Monday morning at 8:15. Each of us comes with a prompt. We share our prompts, hang up and write like mad for 20 minutes. And then it is back on the phone where we take turns reading and critiquing. It is amazing what we come up with wiriting-wise, and the group energy reminds me that I am not alone.
